Bamboo Flooring
Top Quality Bamboo Flooring Can Last For Generations
Bamboo is a fast-growing, renewable resource. In fact, it is a very hard grass that renews itself from the same root stalk over and over again. It can be engineered into planks that can be used for flooring and it makes for a tough surface with a natural look. High quality bamboo flooring exhibits colour consistency and clarity and with the proper maintenance, it can last for many generations.
Bamboo flooring is a stylish option for a beach house, but also represents an excellent alternative in any application where a traditional hardwood floor may have been considered. Bamboo is normally available in light, natural or in the darker “caramelised” hues. The latter tone is obtained by heating the sugar in the fibres during the manufacturing process. However, if you prefer, bamboo may be stained to offer any colour from espresso and cherry to walnut and charcoal.
A bamboo floor can be installed in several ways; it can be stapled, nailed or glued to concrete. It can even be installed as a floating floor with a self-locking system that requires no adhesive. In fact, a bamboo floor can be installed just like any traditional tongue-and-groove solid hardwood floor. This type of floor should preferably be finished in a water-based, scratch-resistant, solvent-free, super tough aluminium oxide top coat. It needs little more than regular sweeping and vacuuming and should periodically be wiped with a manufacturer-recommended hardwood floor cleaner.
