Berber Carpets Are Usually Of The Multi-Level Loop Type

There are many types of carpet piles and your choice would depend on your application.  In cut pile carpets, the pile loops are cut through and it is one of the most popular types of carpet for the home.  Loop pile carpets' loops are not cut and maintain their exceptional experience because there are no exposed yarn tips; they are also more suitable for high-traffic areas.  A level loop carpet's loops are all of the same height for a smooth appearance and effective masking of footprints.  A multi-level loop carpet uses chunky yarn for a Berber appearance.  However, Berber carpets are still of a loop pile construction.

Besides containing both small and large tufts, Berber carpets usually also contain darker flecks on lighter background colours.  The name comes from the Berber tribe of North America, who had originally adopted this type of weave.  As such, Berber refers not to a type of fibre, but the type of weave.  Berber-type carpets are typically made from wool, olefin or nylon and are the preferred carpets for high-traffic areas like offices.  They are popular, because they are cheaper than the plusher pile carpets, but they exhibit superb wear- and stain-resistance.

Another type of popular carpet that is suitable for heavy use is fibre needle punch carpeting.  Manufacturers like Belgotex® Floor Coverings manufacture needle punch carpets that are easy to clean, and uses the stain-resistant Miracle Fibre for its construction.  In contrast, a lush, cut pile carpet is soft to walk on but better suited to bedrooms where traffic levels are lower.
